Sadonna

“Donnie”

My name is Sadonna, most call me Donnie, and I can easily say I’ve always had a passion for travel. I was fortunate to have parents that enjoyed traveling and it’s led me down a pretty cool path that not all get the chance to wander. I just reached a huge personal milestone of traveling to 4 different continents; N. America, Europe, Asia, and now AFRICA! Marrakech was a chef’s kiss and I still pinch myself on that one. I’ve also been fortunate to visit 30 something of the 50 states here in the US. I document my travels on YouTube and you can find them at “whats donnie doin” if you’re interested!

Although I’m originally from West Virginia, I grew up in South Carolina. I played quite a few sports while growing up and softball rewarded me with some pretty cool opportunities, even playing at the collegiate level. My first time on a plane was to Hawaii to play in a tournament that I was recruited for when I was 17. I played on a team that represented both SC & Georgia and we placed 3rd overall. I had some of the best plays of my career there. I wish videos were more of thing back then because I’d like to relive my time with those people doing what we loved the most. A group of total strangers coming together and playing like that after 3 practices is magical. I’ll never forget them.

That first plane ride instilled a travel bug and excitement I still get every time I’m on the way to the airport. I almost gave up my college scholarship in order to backpack around the world if that tells you anything….. Mom was NOT having that hahaha. You can’t blame her.

Roaming Anyways was created because I want people to experience the beauty and magic of traveling that I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. I enjoy planning a trip so much it’s probably on the line of obsession. My best friend, Dulce, always jokes that you can’t say anything about a trip in front of me. I’ll have it planned and booked in 20 minutes. The world has taught me so many things about others and myself. Living in NYC showed me how to love and embrace myself as well as others. Europe slowed me down enough to enjoy life. Thailand taught me peace, compassion, and how to reflect. The motor scooter crash and Dulce’s monkey bite was also very humbling.

After battling Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia T1 my whole life and Pancreatic Cancer, I know all too well that our time here is precious and we should enjoy it! I want to inspire people to get out there and experience what the world has to offer and teach them. In the wise words of the song “Colors of the Wind” from the movie Pocahontas, “you’ll learn things you never knew you never knew.”

We sometimes need the reminder to pause and stop the rat race. I want to show people that traveling can be AFFORDABLE and sometimes the best places are in our own backyard. If you’re from the states and haven’t been out west yet, we need to talk. If you’ve never been to the states, boy do I have some gems off the beaten path.

I want to take way all of your excuses so you can get out & go Roaming Anyways. The world is beautiful, go experience it. Reach out to me today!
